What is the NOBULL Allday Training Shoe?

The Allday is NOBULL’s effort to make one shoe that covers everything an active person might do in a day. If your schedule has you going for a jog, hitting the gym, and then running errands or meeting your friends for dinner, you can put the Allday on in the morning and never take it off (except for your post-workout shower. We hope.).

The Allday has enough cushion to handle your cardio to your gym workout, while providing comfort for the rest of your day. And, it’s street-ready and stylish. The Allday won’t look out of place in a casual restaurant or violate (even the lamest) office dress codes.

NOBULL Allday Shoe Features

The Allday brings many qualities of running, walking, and lifting shoes together in one design. It’s light, like most running shoes, weighing in at 10.6 ounces for a men’s size 9/women’s size 10.5. As with many running shoes, it has a sizable heel-to-toe drop of 10mm (the difference in height between the heel and forefoot). Made for the person on their feet all day, every day, the extra cushion adds comfort, but versatile enough for your gym workouts.

Phylon and EVA

A blend of Phylon and EVA foam cushions the Allday’s midsole. (Phylon is made by adding extra air to EVA.) A 2022 review showed that blends of EVA foam with materials like Phylon can help improve a shoe’s resilience, its ability to absorb shock, and its energy return, giving the wearer a springy feeling during movement. That can help boost performance by making each step more efficient. And it can also reduce the risk of injury by softening impact.

Tread

The tread on the Allday’s outsole is a lug pattern, similar to what’s on hiking shoes and work boots. Triangular treads interspersed with deep cuts into the EVA midsole enhance traction. “This makes the outsole very adaptable for indoor and outdoor usage,” says Michael Schaeffer, co-designer of the Allday as well as NOBULL’s co-founder and Chief Creative Officer (follow him on Instagram, @michael.is.nobull).

In fact, Schaeffer says the Allday may be a better choice than the NOBULL Drive (our hybrid running and lifting shoe) for transitioning from indoor to outdoor running, if that’s your goal. The Allday’s lugs are deeper, while the Drive’s design is more minimalist. The foam in the Drive’s midsole is also somewhat exposed on the outsole, causing it to contact the ground more. Over time, it can wear out faster if you’re running on rough terrain.

Motion Control

“People with flat feet tend to overpronate,” says Schaeffer. “When they heel strike, they roll onto the medial side of their foot [toward the body’s midline].” There’s an insert on the Allday’s midsole that helps control this. If you have collapsed arches and your foot rolls into that area, the midsole actually resists compressing so you don’t roll as much.

Reflectivity

Night owl? We’ve got you. The laces on the Allday Knit model are reflective, improving their visibility if you’re running outdoors under dark conditions. Reflective logos appear on the side and heel of the Ripstop model.

What’s The Difference Between the NOBULL Allday Knit Vs Ripstop?

Allday comes in a choice of two different uppers— Knit and Ripstop. TL;DR: People choose Knit for maximum comfort and Ripstop for durability. The Knit is a flexible mesh yarn that provides a sock-like fit for maximum comfort., While Ripstop is made of a woven polyester (the same kind you find in tents and parachutes) that offers more durability. Both are very breathable.

Make no mistake, the Knit is a performance shoe. But because it’s designed with a more relaxed look and feel and lacks some stability around the ankle, it’s the best shoe choice between the two for those seeking maximum comfort. The Knit is a perfect house shoe or something to wear on a walk or a trip into town. “You can use it for a light run,” says Schaeffer, “or maybe a workout in a hotel gym, but I wouldn’t go and do heavy lifts or aggressive shuttle runs in it. Kettlebells and treadmill? Absolutely.”

The Allday Ripstop is lightweight, but don’t get it twisted – it’s damn strong. As the name suggests, the Ripstop material resists stretching and tearing. Of the two, the Ripstop will last longer than the Knit and is better suited for rougher use. “The Ripstop isn’t as durable as the material that forms the upper on the NOBULL Outwork and Outwork Edge,” says Schaeffer, “but it’s still very durable and much more breathable. For normal indoor and outdoor use, and any realistic gym scenario, the Allday Ripstop is nearly indestructible.”

With the Ripstop upper material you can do ground-based exercises and routinely rub the upper on the gym floor or turf without worry of it wearing out. The Ripstop is also harder to get dirty and easier to clean than the Knit. You can scrub it hard without grinding the material down. (We tried).

“The Ripstop has such a tight surface,” says Schaeffer, “that unless you rub it on concrete—repeatedly—I don’t think it would fall apart.”

Aside from the upper material, there is no difference in how the Allday Knit and Ripstop are built.

The NOBULL Bottom Line:

  • The Knit emphasizes comfort and the Ripstop is the best Allday for durability. Both are very breathable.
  • Ripstop provides a supportive, locked-in feel, while Knit gives a stretchy, sock-like feel.
  • Both models are the same except for their upper material.

Who Is The NOBULL Allday Made For?

The Allday was created to give gymgoers, athletes, and active people an everything-in-one option they can literally wear all day long. If you’re trying to save money (or space) and want one pair of shoes you can do almost every fitness activity inthe Allday has you covered. Plus, you can wear them to the office (and even happy hour).

However, that versatility comes at certain costs. Says Schaeffer: “Is the Allday the best running shoe on the market? No. Is it the most supportive workout shoe? No. But if you’re going on a trip and you want to pack one pair of shoes, you want to bring the Allday.

That’s exactly what Peter Acton does. “I travel a fair amount for work,” says Acton, age 50, an attorney in Newburyport, Massachusetts, “and the Allday is my go-to shoe because it provides me with the versatility to do whatever I may find on the road, at the gym, or at any outdoor place.” [Editor’s Note: Acton is a real NOBULL customer and NOT a paid spokesperson; we found him from a review he submitted to our customer service department.]

Acton says he discovered NOBULL through the Outwork Edge (then called the Trainer+), and has tried every shoe in our line since. He was drawn to the Allday for its design.

“I thought the functionality was interesting,” says Acton, “because it’s balanced. For a lot of CrossFit® workouts, you do HIIT-style training, and I need a shoe that is sturdy enough to hold up. The Allday allows you to do things like run, lift, and other movements that require foot stability but still has enough cushioning to let you move over pavement without discomfort. I’ve done a lot of running, hiking, and CrossFit in them.” Acton says he owns both the Knit and Ripstop models, favoring the Ripstop more in cold weather and the Knit when it’s warm, but says that both are almost equally breathable.

He echoes Schaeffer’s point about the Allday’s value for flat-footed runners.

“One of the challenges I’ve had over the years is finding a shoe that allows someone with flat feet to accomplish more than one task with one shoe,” says Acton. “The Allday allows me to do different things in connection with one workout. It gives me that balance between feeling stable while allowing me to move laterally as well as front to back more quickly.”

The NOBULL Bottom Line:

  • If you have to pick one, Allday is the best all-around athletic sneaker in the NOBULL family.
  • It’s got you covered for cross-training and other workout classes, as well as all of your cardio.
  • Allday offers support for people with flat feet.

What Kind of Exercise Can I Do in the NOBULL Allday?

Schaeffer cautions that while the Allday serves a variety of uses, it’s not specialized for any one thing. So don’t take it to extremes. Wear it for a run, but not a marathon (Acton says he’ll use Allday for sprints and jogs up to six miles). Put it on for an Orangetheory® class or workout machine circuit, but don’t try to set a new deadlift PR. Remember that the Allday has a 10mm heel-to-toe drop, and that’s not ideal for heavy barbell lifts. (Flatter, less-cushioned shoes like the NOBULL Outwork are ideal for that, as discussed in our “Expert’s Guide to Gym Shoes.”)

There are also subtle differences between the Knit and Ripstop that should be taken into account. “The Knit is a little too stretchy for cone drills and shuttle runs,” says Schaeffer. “You could roll your ankle doing that.” But the Ripstop can probably handle them. In general, the Ripstop is a smarter option for outdoor recreation and sports where you change direction quickly, but it’s not really designed for that. You could shoot some baskets in either type of Allday, but it’s probably not wise to play full-court in them.

“I like the Allday for rucking,” says Schaeffer. Put on a weighted backpack and go for a walk or hike. “The traction is good for that, there’s support, and the breathability makes it more comfortable.”

Here’s a short list of activities we think the Allday is perfectly suited for.

Lifting:
machines, dumbbells, kettlebells, bodyweight, suspension training (such as with a TRX® or gymnastics rings).

Running: sprints, short to moderate jogs, trail runs.

Walking: indoor and outdoor, hiking, stair-climbing.

Standing: behind a desk/in a booth, long waits on a line.

If you’re quite literally on your feet all day, Allday’s comfort shouldn’t be underestimated. “The Allday is a shoe I might wear in the office or for travel,” says Layne Palm, DC, owner of Fortify Spine and Sport, a chiropractic and rehab clinic in Austin, Texas (follow Palm on Instagram at @laynepalmdc). Palm stands for hours at a time, treating patients on his table, and the floor of his office is solid concrete.

“I’ve seen people who wear Vivo Barefoot® and other barefoot shoes get bad plantar fasciitis or even heel spurs that way,” says Palm. “Being barefoot has its benefits, but not if you’re standing on concrete or walking on pavement or hard flooring for long periods. We evolved to be barefoot on grass and dirt but not on really hard surfaces.” Soft shoes not only feel better, they can save your joints some serious wear and tear.

The NOBULL Bottom Line:

  • Use the Allday for exercise classes, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), lifting, jogging, walking, and going out.
  •  The Allday isn’t intended for extreme endurance and strength training, or sports.
  • Its cushioning can help protect your feet if you stand and walk on hard surfaces.

How Does NOBULL Allday Compare To Other Running Shoes?

If you ask us, we’d say the Allday is a unique design with a market all its own. But its closest rivals are probably the running and everyday shoes made by big running shoe companies. All of these shoes offer substantial cushioning which probably makes for comfortable running and energy return. But be aware that the higher the drop, the less stable the shoe.

Many sneakers have a 12- 14mm drop, which really makes it a running shoe and unsuited for lifting. Many of the leading brands also have uppers made out of textile, which won’t hold up under tough workouts like Ripstop does.

Acton says that he keeps buying NOBULL shoes, but not out of a need to replace them. “I still use the very first pair I ever bought years ago because they’ve lasted,” says Acton, “but I like the new color patterns NOBULL has come out with” - so he continues ordering more.

I’ve used every running and cross-training shoe imaginable, and NOBULL blows the doors off anything the major brands offer in terms of versatility and durability. I think some of the other shoes, are over-cushioned for most use cases, so they lack stability and that feeling of groundedness that is the hallmark of all NOBULL shoes.”

What’s The Difference Between The NOBULL Allday and the Journey?

Allday is our most versatile training and everyday shoe. Journey is a truly dedicated running shoe.

“The Journey has more cushioning,” says Schaeffer. “You’re higher off the ground. The Journey also has a nylon plate in it and Pebax® foam, which is known for its energy return [it’s even greater than Phylon]. The Pebax gives you energy back and the plate acts as a spring. When you heel strike, the plate bends and loads up, and when you toe off, the plate straightens out. You’ll feel that little pop when you run long distances.”

The NOBULL Bottom Line:

  • The Allday offers similar cushioning to other running and athletic shoes but is likely more durable and less expensive.

  • You can run in the Allday, but the Journey is better equipped for long-distance training.

What Are Customers Saying About The NOBULL Allday?

In February 2025, NBC News included the Allday in its list of the 14 best walking shoes for women of every foot type. Reporter Bianca Alvarez said, “After getting my own pair, I understood the hype. I love using them to walk on the treadmill or outside, and I also use them for HIIT classes, running, and lifting. They’re cushioned enough to get me through cardio but keep me stable while training.”

In March, the multimedia brand PureWow dedicated an entire blog post to the Allday, describing it as “the perfect footwear.”

“It’s great for walking and light jogs because of the support and lightweight feel,” writes Madeline Merinuk, “but the outsole lug pattern on the bottom also helps stabilize my feet during a standing leg workout or ab circuit on the mat… And in regard to being on the treadmill: I swear these shoes made the incline walk feel easier. They’re lightweight enough that I could barely feel them, yet they were incredibly supportive—but not to a point where it felt too bouncy.”

She goes on to call the Allday the “perfect combination of fashion and function,” highlighting its numerous color options. “There’s bound to be one that fits your personal style.”

Acton adds that while he still prefers Outwork Edge for his heavy lifting and the Journey for long runs, the Allday covers just about everything else.

“I’ve owned every single kind and brand of sneaker you can imagine,” says Acton. “The Allday is the best-feeling shoe I’ve ever worn, regardless of use case, period.”
