The secret to real results? Accountability. What brings accountability? Community. At Life Time, you can find a community within our group fitness classes.
However you train, we have a class for you. We teach strength training, HIIT, reformer, yoga, and more. No matter what class you choose, you'll have a trainer there to guide you. Life Time’s trainers are passionate, knowledgeable, and here to support you as you work towards your goals. But most of all, they build community.
WHY GROUP FITNESS?
I started my career in the fitness industry almost 10 years ago. I started as a personal trainer and have since begun teaching group fitness, Pilates, and nutrition coaching.
Coaching gymnastics earlier in my career showed me how much joy it brings to help others achieve their goals. That’s why I wanted to become a personal trainer: there’s no better feeling than watching your clients reach their milestones and build amazing confidence.
I started teaching group fitness because I wanted to develop community. I wanted to curate a space where people feel welcomed and supported.
The first class I started teaching at Life Time was GTX, a 50/50 blend of strength training and cardio. I was immediately drawn to the high energy and inclusivity of GTX. Open to all fitness levels, this program helps members build full-body fitness.
Classes always start with a mobility warm-up to prepare clients for the workout ahead. The cardio section focuses on heart rate zone training, and the strength section uses all the primary movement patterns: squat, hinge, push, press, and rotation.
Each day is different, with classes broken up into categories like “squat and pull” or “hinge and press.” That means you can go day after day and get a different workout that complements your previous class.

WHY GTX?
GTX is a fantastic option for your first class at Life Time. Perfect for busy schedules or anyone who enjoys mixing up their workouts, GTX’s 50/50 blend allows members to check off strength and cardio all in one class.
But the trainers really make this class top-tier. Their knowledge allows them to intentionally program classes to help members make real progress, while fostering a sense of inclusivity and belonging.
Trainers work hard to make class safe and inclusive for all fitness levels. Offering modifications to make classes easier or harder for members, depending on their athletic abilities.
And GTX fits well into personal training plans. GTX can help you build strength and endurance, so no matter your fitness goals, your trainer can work GTX into your program to help you get there. Smart, well-designed, effective, and fun, GTX is a program that drives true change for members.
Additionally, GTX gets you fit and confident enough to try other training programs. It develops both strength and cardio, preparing you to take on any other class or challenge you’re interested in. Life Time has plenty.
The strength portion of the GTX class can prepare you to try out Alpha Strength. The cardio component of GTX and knowing your heart rate zones can help you reach new heights in cycle classes. However you train, GTX is a great addition to your program.
WHAT MAKES LIFE TIME DIFFERENT?
After working in the fitness industry for almost 10 years, I can say firsthand: Life Time is different.
A lot of people (including myself) can be nervous to try a new class for the first time. Life Time coaches are experienced in managing multiple fitness levels in one class to ensure everyone has a safe and effective workout. They meet members where they are, encouraging them to take risks in a safe and fun way, regardless of where they are in their fitness journey.
Workouts are streamed on TVs so members can easily see and follow exercises. The GTX program is also on the Life Time app, so members can look at the workout plan ahead of time to prepare.
Life Time also offers a metabolic assessment for members to determine their specific heart rate zones, allowing them to know exactly how hard to push themselves in class, improving their V02. Knowing your heart rate zones allows you to train smart and improve cardiovascular endurance.
Additionally, many trainers teach multiple class styles and offer nutrition guidance, allowing them to look at members’ needs holistically and create well-rounded fitness plans tailored to their goals and lifestyles.
Life Time is an exceptional place to work towards your fitness and wellness goals. There are so many options for someone to discover the workouts that fuel their motivation to keep showing up. On top of the class options, there are so many trainers and coaches that are ready and excited to help. But most of all, you’ll find community in classes, helping drive real change.
Author Bio:

My love of movement began as a competitive gymnast. It was a natural progression to become a gymnastics coach, that was when I learned how much I loved helping others reach their full potential. That brought me to begin my career in the fitness industry almost 10 years ago. First a Personal Trainer and then over time I added Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, Nutrition Coach and Group Fitness Coach to my bag of tricks. It is important to me to keep learning and evolving just as much as I want my clients to evolve to the best version of themselves.
